Fairtrade Fortnight is taking place at the moment and in celebration of this Skinners' Academy in Hackney, London held a fundraiser to raise awareness of Fairtrade.
Every student company needs to raise money to fund its activities, and they have a unique opportunity to do so every February when Fairtrade Fortnight comes around.
Schools have the opportunity to raise money for their student company whilst at the same time raising awarness of Fairtrade and ethical trading. Skinners' Academy's student company Skinners' International did just that on 3rd February 2012 when they held a bring and buy sale outside their academy.

All sorts of things were on sale outside the school - most of which had been kindly donated by teachers, parents and the local community.

Skinners' International are partnered this year through Achievers International in a three-way trading relationship with IES Leonardo da Vinci school in Spain, and Ecole Privée Fieldgen in Luxembourg. As they have done in the last few years, Skinners' will be trading Fairtrade products with their partner schools. This was a great opportunity to promote their activities, and to promote Fairtrade in general.
The students were very successful as they managed to make approximately £200! Before the event, the Headmistress of Skinners' Academy had also agreed to match whatever the students made at this sale - so Skinners' International should now have a lot of capital for their trading activities!
