All participating schools/colleges should aim to start the programme in August/September, though schools are encouraged to communicate before this date where possible. Most companies will cease trading and close down by June. Notification of partner school details and personal passwords to the on-line training areas will be forwarded to the each Teacher Co-ordinator on receipt of payment, prior to commencement of the programme.

When staff and students have become familiar with the on-line training areas, they should make contact with their partner school.  Each company will have between one and five hours per week to spend on the programme.  Over the first month, a company should:
  • make contact with their partner school and get to know some things about the students. For example, names, ages, hobbies etc.
  • arrange a video conference with their partner to allow the students to meet each other ‘face to face’.
  • make contact with local businesses that can give them advice. Arrange for business people to come into class and discuss their specialist field, or go on visits to local manufacturers, retailers, suppliers etc.
  • start raising funds for the company by holding events, selling shares in the company or seeking sponsorship locally.
