As this programme involves a partnership, it is vital that participating schools/colleges make a commitment to work towards a successful outcome for all students involved. The following points cover some of the issues that must be addressed by participants:
Co-ordinatorsA member of staff should always be available to assist the Student Company. It is advisable for at least two members of staff to be aware of the programme and the company’s progress, in case of illness, etc. As this is an entrepreneurial programme the co-ordinators should act as a coach and adviser to the company.
StudentsThere are nine specified ‘Directorial’ positions in an Achievers International company. Schools/colleges have run the programme with between five and thirty students but around fifteen is the optimum number. Achievers is designed for students aged 12-19 years old.
TimeThe programme lasts for an academic year and requires a commitment of at least one-hour per week for staff and students. Extra time may be required to conduct market research, source products, communicate and make business contacts. See Timescales for further details.
TechnologyAll member companies must have e-mail and Internet access. See Technology Requirements for further details.
CommunicationEach company must be committed to communicating with their partner at least once per week. See Importance of Communication for further details. |
