Last week saw the start of an international conference programme which has been developed by European Study Tours and is supported by Achievers International. Held on the first day of Global Entrepreneurship Week, the conference at the Odeon cinema in Leicester Square, London, saw 800 students come face to face with high profile entrepreneurs.

And they don't get any more high profile than Lord Alan Sugar who answered questions from the students and spoke to them about how he started in business and what they need to do to start a successful enterprise.

He was followed by Duncan Goose from One Water who delivered an inspirational presentation on how he started One Water and the impact that this not-for-profit organisation has had all over the world.

Priya Lakhani, the winner of the 2009 Enterprising Young Brits award, closed the day by explaining how she went from being a lawyer to setting up her business Masala Masala in a short space of time. Within a few months, her fresh curry sauces were on the shelves of major retailers across the UK and she has also set up a project to help provide hot meals to homeless people in India.
