4 February 2009 - ACHIEVERS INTERNATIONAL PARIS CONFERENCE
Achievers International Paris Conference
Last weekend saw the second conference as part of our international conference programme developed by European Study Tours and supported by Achievers International.
Held at the Palais des Congrès in Paris, Your Future in Europe brought over 1700 students and teachers face to face with high profile speakers to learn about, and discuss, the current issues and challenges facing Europe.
John Sergeant, the BBC's former chief political correspondent, chaired the day and introduced speakers such as Tim Harford, the economics leader writer for the Financial Times. He discussed the current economic situation and what the implications might be for Europe and the rest of the world.
He was followed by James Averdieck, the Managing Director of the luxury chocolate pudding brand Gü, who spoke about his company's success and how he achieved it, as well the challenges for businesses in Europe.
The highlight of the day though was Charles Kennedy, the former leader of the Liberal Democrats and now President of the European Movement in Britain, speaking about European politics and what impact the recent events in American politics may have. This was followed by a Question Time panel which also featured Conservative MP David Davis and Labour MP Denis MacShane, as well as the noted Guardian journalist David Aaronovitch.
Further conferences in Paris and New York are designed to help introduce students to the business world and bring them face to face with high profile speakers who will leave a lasting impression.
